England had its own 24-hour race event in the shape of the Willhire 24 Hour Race for Poduction cars in the late 1970s and 1980s. Morgan participated a few time in this race event.
 
The 1980 edition proved successful, as the entry by then London Morgan dealer Morris Stapleton Motors secured the Commanders Cup for the greatest distance covered by a single car entry.
 
The Morgan was a former works car, YNP 197 R.
 
Morris Stapleton issued a sepia tone A4 size sales sheet to celebrate this achievement and promote its Morgan sales.
 
This sheet is now a rarity.
